Women's Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) is a community of information security professionals, IT professionals, programmers, computer scientists/engineers as well as women wanting to explore and join the field. We, collectively, promote activities to advance women in information security.

Our goal is to create programs and partnerships that provide networking, education, and mentoring opportunities for women, from women that are committed to helping each other.

WSC encourages women already working in the field as well as aspirants, of all ages, interested in information security to join and expand their knowledge, share resources, and network among peers and mentors.

The information technology field, alone, is in high demand with low supply. There is even a higher demand for professionals in information security. Women hold 56% of all professional jobs in the U.S. workforce, but only 25% of IT jobs (ncwit.org). WSC will help bridge the gap and bring women together by providing opportunities, connections, and resources.

Join us for the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) Cybersecurity Workshop hosted from our Washington, DC location. This is a hands-on, practical workshop where you will put into practice those things you may have read or covered in a class. This is also a great way to keep your skills fresh if you’re a veteran.

Every workshop addresses beginner and advanced topic material. Beginners are encouraged to watch and learn as much as possible even though you may not have a clue. Exposure to new tools and techniques by watching will advance your learning process a lot quicker than trying to learn on your own. You will get to ask questions and see how it's done in the real world. Advanced attendees are encouraged to share and help answer "noob" questions as much as possible so everyone can learn from them.

    1. Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu Members Mentor the Next Generation

      by
McLean, VA – November 19, 2012 For five Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) members, November 15 was a rewarding day. These women shared their expertise with 400 Maryland middle school girls at CyberWatch’s Cool Careers in Cybersecurity for Girls Summit. The girls solved an identity theft crime by attending sessions and participating in hands-on activities where they gathered clues. Along the way they also learned about Cybersecurity career opportunities from women currently working in the profession. “The girls were excited to learn that being an ethical hacker or a penetration tester is a  real job that you get paid for...

    1. Hospitals Are Killing Me! Exploitation via (the Lack of) Physical Security

How many times have you been to the hospital and ended up waiting for the doctor come in? 10, 15, 20 minutes? That’s pretty typical. As I sit there and look at the workstation sitting out in the open with no screensaver and a wireless connection, I wonder if they have ever thought about how someone (not me) could be a little curious and start exploring! Check out this laptop in a well-known Virginia hospital. This is just one of 3 different hospitals I’ve scoped out. This laptop has wireless access, as the doctor pulled up my file then filled...

Last night's session was great. This workshop gives you a feel for how things are done in a real-world network security environment beyond what you was taught in your coursework. Lisa did a wonderful job going through several security tools and techniques as well as troubleshooting issues. Will be attending the next one.

    ~Ting Keller
Although I paid for the boot camp prior to the CISSP exam, it is very hard to quiz myself and study without a group. The group was very interactive and no one was intimidating. Everyone is helpful and friendly. In a male-dominated field, it is very comforting to know that I can count on support from my fellow Cyber Warriors. This is worth the trip and VERY helpful.
    ~Becca C, Virginia
I've only attended a few events but this seems like a great group that I'll be able to learn a lot from.
